- FDNY-issued bunker coat belonging to Dennis M. Carey, Sr. "Dennis M. Carey" is handwritten inside the coat by the collar.
- Historical Notes
- Brooklyn-born Dennis Carey lived in Wantagh, Long Island, with his wife, Jean. They had two grown children. Dennis loved to cook at home, following recipes from his 15-year archive of Bon Appétit magazines. A firefighter for nearly 20 years, he had served with FDNY Hazmat Company 1 for seven of them. On September 11, Firefighter Carey responded with his company to the Twin Towers. He was 51 years old.
