Within hours of the crash of hijacked Flight 93, visitors came to the site with flowers and other commemorative tributes. By November 2001, local officials and volunteers had constructed a temporary memorial, which remained in place until 2010.
The first phase of the Flight 93 National Memorial, including marble walls engraved with the names of Flight 93’s seven crew members and 33 passengers, opened for the 10th anniversary of 9/11.
