Hard Hat
- Description
- Plastic hard hat with cap-style brim and interior ratchet suspension. The hard hat is blue with the NYPD Emergency Squad logo on the front featuring an emergency vehicle and printed text: "POLICE | EMERGENCY | SQUAD." "POLICE | EMERGENCY" is printed in white on both sides of the hat. On the back of the hat is a sticker with the logo for Squad 3 with "E3" printed above the sticker. A large green sticker "3" is to the right of the logo.
- Historical Notes
- On 9/11, New York City Police Department’s Emergency Service Unit (ESU) teams responded to the unfolding disaster at the World Trade Center. These teams are trained to assist people trapped or injured in dangerous settings. Officer David Brink, assigned to ESU Squad 3, based in the Bronx, wore this gear as he joined rescue efforts in the North Tower.
