Book
“Out of the Sky”
- Description
- Three-dimensional book created by artist, Werner Pfeiffer, titled Out of the Sky and assembled to create a nearly six-foot-high model of the Twin Towers. The motif on the side of the towers resembles the rubble at Ground Zero.
- Historical Notes
- Artist Werner Pfeiffer witnessed the attack on the World Trade Center unfold from the Brooklyn campus of Pratt Institute, where he taught. In the years that followed, he became inspired to create Out of the Sky, a book that calls on the reader to construct and de-construct paper Twin Towers inscribed with the names of 9/11 victims. When fully assembled, the towers stand nearly six feet high. A limited edition of the book was produced in 2006 on the fifth anniversary of the terrorist attacks.
