- Description
- Recovered identification card issued to Lorraine G. Bay by United Airlines. The card includes a portrait photograph of Bay as well as her signature. The "SW" at the top indicates her position as stewardess. The card is dirty and damaged, with small scratches throughout and a tear where the chain or lanyard threads through the plastic badge.
- Historical Notes
- Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Lorraine Bay lived in East Windsor, New Jersey, with her husband, Erich. A flight attendant for United Airlines for 37 years, Lorraine was known for mentoring younger coworkers and for liberally giving presents and greeting cards. On September 11, after mailing cards to two ailing friends, Lorraine boarded Flight 93 en route to San Francisco. She was 58 years old.
