Lapel Pin
- Description
- Circular lapel pin depicting an image of a villainous figure in a black cloak and hat and holding what appear to be weapons. The red border of the pin along with a red diagonal slash cutting through the image create the symbol for "no." "FBI - NYPD | Joint Terrorist Task Force" is printed in gold-colored text around the pin's border.
- Historical Notes
- A spike in domestic terrorist activity in New York City during the 1970s spurred the formation in 1980 of a task force that integrated the counterterrorism efforts of the NYPD and the FBI. In response to the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, the group, currently known as the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF), grew to include more than 40 officers from 10 federal, state, and municipal government agencies who coordinated the investigation.
