Lapel Pin
- Description
- Memorial lapel pin created in memory of Durrell V. Pearsall, Jr. The pin is square with a Maltese cross in the center. "In Loving Memory of | BRONKO" is printed at the top with Pearsall's nickname between the Twin Towers and a shamrock with "E4" printed in it. Below the towers is a leprechaun on a football field wearing a fire helmet and carrying a drum. "HFD" is printed on the left, for Hempstead Fire Department and "261" is printed on the right.
- Historical Notes
- Durrell Pearsall was raised and lived in Hempstead on Long Island. Much of his life revolved around FDNY Rescue Company 4. Captain of the FDNY football team, Durrell was also a drummer in the FDNY Emerald Society Pipes and Drums and had a tattoo of the band’s logo. On September 11, Firefighter Pearsall responded to the towers. He was 34 years old.
