- Description
- Little League patch belonging to Michael C. Opperman. The patch is red, white, and blue with embroidered text: "Little League Baseball | 50th Anniversary | 1939–1989." In the center is an embroidered figure of a child wearing a baseball glove and winding-up to pitch a ball.
- Historical Notes
- Manhattan-born Michael Opperman lived with his wife, Deborah, and their two children in Selden, Long Island. They had met in high school, when he was known as Mustang Mike for the cars he drove. A senior vice president at Aon Corporation, Michael would leave for work early so he could return home in time for family dinner. On September 11, he was at work on the South Tower’s 103rd floor. He was 45 years old.
