- Historical Notes
- Born in County Sligo, Ireland, Kieran Gorman moved to New York in 1993. He and his wife, Anne, lived in Yonkers with their two young sons and were expecting a third child. Kieran was a fan of Gaelic football as well as soccer. A mason tender at Structure Tone, Kieran was working on a renovation project on the South Tower’s 95th floor on September 11. He was 35 years old.
Curator's Comment
Kieran Gorman’s love of Gaelic football began when his father brought him to games in his native County Sligo, Ireland. As an adult, Kieran was a goalkeeper, playing first in Ireland and then in a Gaelic football league after he moved to New York City in 1993. His wife, Anne, was from Northern Ireland, but he met her when they both lived in New York City. She was pregnant with their third son on September 11. Anne and their children later moved to Ireland, where Kieran was buried. All three boys took up football.
