Wristwatch, Recovered
- Description
- Recovered wristwatch belonging to Rosemary A. Smith. The case and bezel of the watch is rectangular and silver; its inner face is light blue with silver dials and numbers. The crystal is completely missing, and the watch's hands are stopped a few seconds before 1:00. The watch band is light blue and detached from the face on one side; the silver watch buckle is still clasped. The watch is encrusted with dust and has a small evidence tag still attached.
- Historical Notes
- Brooklyn-born Rosemary Smith lived in Travis, Staten Island, with her daughter, son-in-law, and two grandchildren. Rosemary spoke of one day starting a business making chocolates. In the meantime, she filled orders from friends for homemade candy and worked at Sidley Austin Brown & Wood as a switchboard operator. On September 11, she was at her office on the North Tower’s 57th floor. She was 61 years old.
