- Description
- Circular patch with a yellow border, threaded black trim, and black embroidered text which reads: "20th SPECIAL FORCES GROUP (ABN) | AFGHANISTAN." In the center is the Special Forces Crest insignia, stitched in black and trimmed in white with a black, red, and green embroidered background. The insignia features two crossed arrows with a dagger in the center, placed within an encircling scroll that arches at the base and bears the Special Forces motto: "DE OPPRESSO LIBER." This translates from Latin as "To Free the Oppressed."

- A member of the U.S. Army Reserve, Lawrence Provost responded to Ground Zero on 9/11. A year later he joined his unit on a six-month mission to Afghanistan.
