- Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Battalion Chief Gregory A. West worked as an Urban Search and Rescue (US&R) volunteer at Ground Zero from September 11, 2001, until September 22, 2001. He was deployed as a member of the California Task Force 1 (CA-TK1), one of the twenty-eight task forces sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
