- Prayer card created in memory of James M. Amato. The front of the card features a photograph of Amato in his bunker gear. The back of the card includes printed text: "In Loving Memory of | James M. Amato | September 11, 2001," with a scripture passage from 2 Corinthians 1:3–4.
- Historical Notes
- Born in Oakdale, Long Island, James Amato lived in Ronkonkoma with his wife, Deborah, and their four children. A wrestler in college and a skier, he was a captain in FDNY Squad 1. Once ordering firefighters out of a building that exploded seconds later, he said, “Timing is everything.” On September 11, Captain Amato and his squad responded to the World Trade Center. He was 43 years old.
