Prayer Card
- Description
- Prayer card created in memory of Kevin J. Pfeifer. The front of the card contains a photograph of Pfeifer wearing his fire helmet with printed text that reads: "FDNY | Lieutenant | Kevin J. Pfeifer | Engine Co. 33." The back of the card is printed text that reads: "In Prayerful Remembrance of | Lieutenant | Kevin J. Pfeifer | FDNY | Engine Co. 33 | Born July 10, 1959 | Died September 11, 2001 | Rescuing those trapped | at the World Trade Center | Greater love than this, no one has, that one lay down his life for his friends. | John 15:13." The corners of the card are curled.
- Historical Notes
- Brooklyn native Kevin Pfeifer lived in Middle Village, Queens. He was a recreational pilot who had logged 400 hours of flying time and a sailor who often took relatives out on his boat on Jamaica Bay. Kevin worked as a paramedic at St. Vincent’s Hospital and was a lieutenant with FDNY Engine Company 33. On September 11, Lieutenant Pfeifer responded to the North Tower with his unit. He was 42 years old.
