- 1985 Unit Citation award belonging to James A. Romito. The silver medallion is encased in blue-colored plastic with engraved text: "James Romito | Unit Citation Award | The Port Authority of NY & NJ."
- Historical Notes
- Bronx-born James Romito lived in Washington Township, New Jersey. He had two grown children. A PAPD chief, James oversaw PAPD emergency operations and had created a housing and medical program for the homeless at the Port Authority Bus Terminal. On September 11, Chief Romito reported to the North Tower’s 27th floor to lead rescue operations. He was 51 years old.
